Volunteers Needed for Habitat for Humanity Workday

The Carnes Crossroads Information Center has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County to sponsor this year’s “Women Build” project, an annual initiative that recruits and empowers women of all ages, backgrounds and industries to come together to make a powerful impact on our local community through construction.

This year, Habitat for Humanity is working with “Doors to Freedom” on a project to build “Her Academy,” a schoolhouse that will provide a safe space for one-on-one education for victims of sex-trafficking.

We’re recruiting volunteers for a Carnes Crossroads workday on Friday, May 17 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. We’re looking for approximately 15 volunteers to help with the building process for Her Academy. Women and men are invited to volunteer, and no construction experience is required.

Women Build Month is based on the premise that every woman has the power to build a stronger community. The initiative aims to include women in the construction process, offering an empowering, unique, fun and positive environment for them to give back in their communities.
