Five Fall Events for Families in Summerville, Goose Creek and Charleston
October 9, 2014 | Charleston Region
October is one of the most beautiful months of the year in the Lowcountry, so it’s no surprise that the Charleston area offers a dizzying number of special outdoor events to celebrate the season. Here are the events you’ll see us out and about at this fall – we recommend any of these to families looking for fall fun in Summerville, Goose Creek and Charleston.
Goose Creek Fall Festival
Carnes Crossroads Real Estate is a proud sponsor of the Goose Creek Fall Festival, a free, family-friendly event held behind the Marguerite H. Brown Municipal Building in Goose Creek, SC on Saturday, October 11 from 10 am until 4 pm. There will be live entertainment, pony rides, arts & crafts vendors and lots of great food. An added bonus: Bring a canned food donation for Helping Hands of Goose Creek to be entered to win a variety of prizes.
Summerville Ghost Walk and Harvest Moon Festival
Local businesses kick off this annual two-week event by decorating Summerville’s Hutchinson Square with scarecrows they design and create for “Scarecrows on the Square.” On Saturday, October 25 from 6 pm until 9 pm everyone is welcome to come out in dressed costume for ghost stories and festival games. There will be a “G-rated” Ghost Walk and a “PG-rated” Ghost Walk offered for family members of all ages. Advance tickets are available at local businesses and children under 3 are free. Hayride tickets are $3. Proceeds from the Ghost Walk and Harvest Moon Festival benefit the Junior Service League of Summerville School Supply Fund.
Goose Creek Halloween Carnival
For families with younger children the Goose Creek Halloween Carnival will be held Saturday, October 26 from 5 pm until 7 pm at the Goose Creek Community Center. This free, family-friendly event will feature a variety of carnival games, jump castles and a cupcake walk. Kids are encouraged to come in their best costumes to participate in the costume contest beginning at 6 pm.
Fall Farmers’ Market in the Green Barn at Carnes Crossroads
Come out Wednesday, October 22 from 3 pm until 7 pm to the Green Barn at Carnes Crossroads for a special fall-themed farmers’ market. Local vendors, like Gruber Family CSA Farm, King of Pops, Jan’s Homemade Soaps and many more, will have booths set up to browse their locally grown and handmade products for purchase.
Park Day on Daniel Island
Carnes Crossroads Real Estate will again have a booth at Park Day on Daniel Island. A fall tradition in the Lowcountry, this is a day of outdoor family fun for all ages that showcases and supports a diverse range of local charitable organizations. Bring the family and enjoy live entertainment, games, jump castles, animal exhibits and other favorite activities. The event will take place from 11 am until 4 pm at the City of Charleston’s Governors Park, located on Seven Farms Drive on Daniel Island.
