Officials from the City of Goose Creek, Berkeley County and the Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce participated in an “Economic Blitz” at Carnes Crossroads on Thursday, February 13, 2020, where they shared information about economic development and the continuing growth of this area of the Charleston region.
Approximately 75 business leaders, Realtors and community members gathered for an evening reception at the historic Green Barn to hear about how the City of Goose Creek is addressing growth, and how county and economic development leaders are working to attract businesses and maintain services as the residential population here continues to grow.
Featured speakers at the Economic Blitz included Goose Creek Mayor Gregory Habib, who spoke about the importance of balancing the development of new homes with new businesses to serve the growing number of residents moving to the region. He cited Carnes Crossroads as an excellent example of how to manage balanced growth in a smart and responsible manner.
Mayor Habib was joined by Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce CEO Elaine Morgan, Berkeley County Economic Development Director Barry Jurs, and Berkeley County Workforce Development Manager Kristen Lanier, who all spoke about the dynamic business environment in Berkeley County, and how their organizations are working to support businesses through workforce development programs and other initiatives.
Carnes Crossroads is located in the heart of this growing region, and we are proud to be creating places for people to live, work, shop, play, learn and worship, all within our growing community!
