Charleston Shows Up To Help Fight Childhood Cancer
More than 800 people came to Carnes Crossroads on Saturday, September 14, 2019 to raise money and show their support for victims of childhood cancer at the annual St. Jude Run/Walk to End Childhood Cancer. This is the fourth year the Charleston-area event of this national fundraising initiative for St. Jude has been held at Carnes Crossroads. The energy was high and the weather was perfect as residents and visitors of all ages came out to participate.
So far, over $82,000 has been raised for this year’s Charleston-area fundraiser — just shy of the $85,000 goal. Participants and teams are still collecting donations and St. Jude will continue to tabulate the amount raised through the end of the month. To make a donation, please click here and know that your contribution will go towards helping St. Jude Children’s Hospital provide free care to children living with cancer.
The St. Jude Walk/Run continues to grow each year, with events being held around the country during the month of September. The event at Carnes Crossroads is the only event held in South Carolina, and each year participants come to our community from across the state to help raise money, show support and celebrate the patients of St. Jude. The current total amount raised in Charleston since the event started here four years ago is $310,000.
The St. Jude Walk/Run has become a signature event at Carnes Crossroads. We’re proud to host this important fundraising initiative and to support the efforts of St. Jude as they continue to serve parents and children battling cancer.
