Carnes Crossroads Part of the Growth of New Construction in Charleston
Great news for Carnes Crossroads! The recent reinvigoration of the real estate market has created a revival for new construction in Charleston. The builders who did survive the downturn are now literally thriving. Both small and large builders – including the builders here at Carnes Crossroads – are looking for available lots and many are building houses throughout Charleston as fast as they can to keep up with this new demand.
From January to June in 2011, the Charleston area had 693 new home sales. From January to June 2012, the Charleston area had 783 new home sales. From January to June 2013, the Charleston area had 881 new home sales – those are big increases. And as of June 2013 the Charleston area has more than 960 new homes under contract. This is a trend that is playing out through many areas of the nation, but the Charleston real estate market currently appears to be at the forefront.
In fact, new construction is one of the fastest growing sectors right now in Charleston, which has remained a popular and growing area, even through the economic downturn. The overall cost of living, low taxes, coastal lifestyle, mild climate and friendly people are a draw for many businesses and new residents, and have helped fuel the demand for new housing. Some of those new residents will be moving into the very first newly-constructed homes at Carnes Crossroads in the coming weeks – we look forward to welcoming them to our new community!
