A Thoughtful Plan
A master plan for Carnes Crossroads is guiding the development of this multi-faceted community. Combining traditional neighborhoods with diverse residential real estate options; parks, trails and open greenspace; expansive lakes; and significant space for all of the conveniences of small town living – including shops and restaurants, a school and church, medical offices and much more – Carnes Crossroads is designed to evolve into a thriving and inclusive community. Encompassing 2,300 acres, it will eventually become home to as many as 15,000 residents.
The first neighborhood of St. Thomas Park is nearing completion, and properties are now being introduced in a new neighborhood, St. James Park. The neighborhoods at Carnes Crossroads are the core of this friendly community. Tree-lined streets feature traditional homes with southern-style architecture. Porches and outdoor living space bring neighbors outdoors year-round. Beautiful parks, lakes, trails and walking paths create a sense of connectivity throughout the community.
Recreation & Amenities
Residents at Carnes Crossroads enjoy access to an array of recreational and social activities. The historic Green Barn, located in the heart of the St. Thomas Park neighborhood, has been refurbished as an open-air gathering place and a venue for an active calendar of special events. It’s adjacent to the community’s 25-meter pool, complete with beach entry and a splash-and-play area for kids. The Village Green is the first of hundreds of acres of planned parks, lakes and open greenspace. Throughout the community, amenities like these are connected to neighborhoods, businesses and conveniences by miles of trails and greenways perfect for running, walking and bicycling.
School & Church
Carnes Crossroads has been planned to incorporate educational opportunities for children of all ages. Northwood Academy, an established and highly-regarded private school for children in pre-school through 12th grade, relocated its Upper School (grades 6-13) to Carnes Crossroads in 2016. The Lower School (grades K-5) will relocate to the Northwood campus at Carnes Crossroads in August 2017. The campus is also home to Northwood Church, which opened in 2012.
A Growing Downtown
With a convenient location in the heart of Charleston’s growth, Carnes Crossroads is attracting businesses, services and conveniences of all kinds to its downtown commercial center. Encompassing four miles along North Main Street and St. James Avenue, this area is already home to several medical offices and will soon become home to a hospital and medical campus for Roper St. Francis, a leading healthcare provider in Charleston. An upscale assisted living facility, The Blake, will open in 2017, and soon new apartments, a grocery store and other conveniences will add to the growing list services available within close proximity to all Carnes Crossroads residents.
Property Owners’ Association
The friendly staff at the Carnes Crossroads Property Owners’ Association not only serve to ensure that common areas in the community – parks, trails, amenities and landscaping – are maintained to the highest standards. They also provide programming support for resident and area events like the seasonal Farmers’ Market at the Green Barn, monthly “First Friday” social events, concerts and more. They’re the go-to source for new residents as they settle into the community.
The Carnes Crossroads Property Owners’ Association plays an important role in keeping residents informed about development activities, social events and our community’s covenants.
